Time For Love

(Ric Seaberg)
I wrote this song in 1983 and recorded it on an old cassette deck I had, complete with a cheesy keyboard track courtesy of Yamaha. When I ran into it one cold day in 2005, I decided to rerecord it with my current equipment and the assistance of my guitarist Tim Ellis. For me, the song evokes that feeling of being safe and warm, inside, on those cold and blizzardy winter days.
Time For Love
Copyright Ric Seaberg 1983

When the days grow shorter in October or so
And the wind starts howlin’, knockin’ round that ol’ screen door
You get that cocoa and toast feelin’, not chips and beer
You can see through the trees, it’s just cold n’ clear

Then it is time for love, love makes your mama feel alright
Yes it is time for love, It’s time for love in the world tonight

When ol’ man winter has gone too far
And ya can’t even open that frozen car
The streets are shinin’ by the light o’ the night
And the tips of your fingers are turnin’ blue and white

Then it is time for love, love makes your daddy feel alright
Yes it is time for love, It’s time for love in the world tonight

When you’’re kickin’ roun’ through the leaves in the park
It’s snowy and quiet, cep’ for the cut of a dog’s bark
The kids are crunchin’ ground, faces frosted red
Your sugar’s waitin’ home for ya, snugglin’ in your bed

Then it is time for love, love makes your baby feel alright
Yes it is time for love, It’s time for love in the world tonight
